NEWSLETTER SUMMER

Verse for the Season

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Proverbs 18 v 24 Editorial Bring a Friend Greetings and welcome to the Summer edition of the Shiloh Dalston newsletter in the mighty name of Jesus. I trust and hope everyone has remained safe and sound during the coronavirus crisis. The country has been under lockdown; non-essential shops were closed, places of worship were not allowed to open , people were unsure what was going on from day to day or from week to week, people were unable to leave their homes because of shielding, as believers we know who our shield is. Shiloh Dalston has been sailing through choppy waters , but Pastor Lewis led by the holy spirit with his hand on the tiller remained on the bridge and has steered Ship Shiloh safely into calmer waters with his twice weekly messages, despite suffering a personal loss. He was ably assisted by Sister Judy who has supplemented the messages with her creative innovation of online zoom meetings surely, we have been blessed and our cup runneth over. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our dear Sister Elmita Forde who was called home. We celebrated the Day of Pentecost on the 31st May when the holy spirit descended Acts 2 v 1-4. We also celebrated Father’s Day on 21st June honouring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, and the influence of fathers in society, Father’s Day complements Mother’s Day, a celebration honouring Mothers. The summer season is here so it gives me great pleasure to announce our Day of Friendship on 30th August, I hope we will be able to use this day as an opportunity to invite family and friends to give thanks and praise to the lord for sparing our lives and to remember loved ones who have died because of the coronavirus that has devastated many lives. The theme for this season is called Bring A Friend. Whenever you see an exciting film at the cinema or had a lovely meal at a restaurant you often wish to share this experience with others. Whether they are family members or friends you want to impart your excitement and enthusiasm to encourage them to see the film or to visit the restaurant so that they too can have an experience like yours. Do you ever talk that way about salvation? After church is usually a good time to do just that with pastor’s message still fresh in your mind. Now the short days and long nights of winter are over, and summer is here, now is an Ideal time to invite someone to come with you to church next Sunday and over the coming weeks; never underestimate the power of your actions. With a small gesture such as an invitation, you can change someone’s life forever. God puts us in each other's lives to make an impact in some way, there is never a wrong time to a phone or send a message to a friend, so they too can share in Jesus’ love. I urge you, when you are come to church bring someone with you; do not accept excuses. Can you imagine if everyone you invited did likewise? This auditorium would be too small, it would be standing room only. Remember we are all ambassadors for Christ and salvation is for everyone.

Condemnation: One of the major doctrines. To have no condemnation declared means to be found innocent of the accusation, therefore no sentence will be imposed. By the grace of God, believers in Jesus Christ will not face the condemnation of God. As believers, we have received a righteousness from God that is by faith. Romans 1 v 17, so in Christ, our sins have been forgiven therefore no condemnation. For purposes of judgment, we do not stand before God alone, but with the righteousness of Christ himself we are freed from all condemnation and assured of God's love if you have faith in the Lord Jesus. The price for our sins has been paid. Jesus fully atoned for our sins on the cross and because of his atonement we can stand blameless before God. God is the judge of all mankind. When a crime has been committed, it means the law has been broken. The process of an investigation may lead to charges being laid against a defendant. Moreover, litigation leads to the verdict of an acquittal or guilt which will determine whether the defendant is either set free or be accountable to the law's penalty for that crime .Those who refuse to believe and obey are guilty of breaking God’s law. Their punishment has already begun, and their ultimate condemnation will occur at the final judgment if they do not repent before death. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s instruction in the garden of Eden part of their penalty was their banishment from the garden of Eden. Yet God patiently waited with mankind and chose Abraham and his descendants to be his special people Genesis 12 v 1. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ , but when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world 1 Corinthians 11 v 32. By the union with Christ through faith we are saved. By the grace of God, believers in Jesus Christ will not face the condemnation of God. The Apostle Paul proclaimed in Romans 8 v 38-39, For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8 v 1. By Brother Joel

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ For many years we have been praying and hoping that our church would cater and reach the young in our community. 2020 is the year that we would like to devise a programme that is design to do just that! We are excited to announce that Shiloh will be hosting 9 summer play schemes catering for children aged 5-11 years old, it will be for 2 weeks in the church hall. This will commence from 20th-31st July. We will be organising a series of child focused activities which will include art and craft, board games, cooking and sewing, puppet making, dancing, singing, and drama. We also hope to have discussions on topics such as drugs, healthy eating, and internet safety etc. This is an Outreach programme to reach out to our local community, we will be running this scheme like all other play schemes in the borough with our vision to spread the good news. This will be done by inviting the children from the play scheme to take part in our nativity play in December 2020. I believe that we can spread the salvation message to at least three generations, children, parents and grandparents so we need everyone on board. Please be part of this by volunteering your time. We need the church to pray as there are many obstacles to conquer. Pray for us as we navigate our way through the red tape and criteria, pray for the parents of the children that will be attending and for the children that their hearts will be touched and the seeds that we plant will bear fruit, in Jesus name Amen… The application forms are now available from sister Veronica, Sister Judy, Sister Joan who would be delighted to help you. SUMMER BULLETIN Pastor’s Notes Dear you who are part of the household of faith, We continue to thank the Lord for good health and for his overflowing spiritual blessing as we keep the light of God’s word shining during these times. We have spent the whole of the Spring season on lockdown. This is not just an accident but all part of our life’s experience. We are at the stage now where we are awaiting the reopening of places of worship. The government announced recently that places of worship could reopen for private prayer. We must follow the spirit of government guidance in relation to social distancing and other factors. Factors that need to be considered include cleaning, hand sanitisation etc. It may be that we cannot open for a while due to trying to meet these standards. We are at a unique moment in our history. We are in the midst of a great upheaval; the pandemic and racial tension is very high worldwide. The soul of our nation and other nations have been laid bare. We have only to look at the signs of the times to realise that the church may not have long to complete its mission. We may not have much time left to offer the world a glimpse of the unity of Christ that will point the eyes of the watching world to the power of our great God. Time is running out, for all of us. But while we still have time, let us reflect on the heart of Jesus, who prayed that his church might one day be one. As we await our return to corporate worship let us praise the Lord for: • God’s faithfulness • Faithful brethren who are praying for each other • God’s word going out faithfully • Good health Please continue to pray for: • Many to return to church with a burning heart • Many will return and available to do more for the kingdom of God • That we all will go on with God and serve him with all our heart Oh, that God will give us a genuine, deep love for His soon returning Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, and spiritual ears to hear, listening for the trumpet sound. May God’s grace, blessings and peace be yours throughout the Summer season until we meet face to face. Pastor Francis Lewis
